The West Piedmont Planning District Commission (WPPDC) has started the process of developing a Pandemic Recovery and Resiliency Plan that will assess the state of the regional economy by anticipating short- and long-term impacts and trends of the COVID-19 pandemic. When complete The Plan will recommend actionable strategies for economic recovery and long-term economic resiliency. The Plan will focus on understanding the pandemic’s current and future economic and social impacts on the WPPDC Region, how to mitigate these impacts, and potential strategies that can be taken to expedite economic recovery while ensuring increased economic immunity from future threats. The plan will specifically look to address challenges faced by local businesses in the WPPDC Region.
As part of this planning process, The WPPDC and the consulting team hired to assist with plan development will be hosting a virtual public meeting on April 29th, 2021 from 6:00-7:00p ET to provide information on the planning process. The meeting will also allow for feedback from community members and business leaders on economic challenges created by the pandemic. This virtual meeting will be hosted through Zoom and can be accessed by using the link and passcode provided below.
During the meeting, the planning team will present findings from a regional business scan that assesses the state of the regional economy and identifies strategic sectors to focus on in the second phase of the planning process. This meeting will allow the public to provide comment on these findings and share challenges that local communities and businesses are facing due to the pandemic. The meeting will also describe how information on the plan will be shared moving forward and how business and community members can provide additional feedback.
An overview of findings from the first phase of the planning process is included in the linked PDF.
